Rickey D. Spencer

1958-2025

Cameron, Missouri- Rick Spencer, 67, passed away on December 2, 2025. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on July 29, 1958 to John O. and Eunice F. (Peterson) Spencer.

Rick grew up in his younger year in Claycomo, MO. He then moved to Plattsburg, Missouri where he attended high school. He began working for Jerico and Telvee Company where he traveled throughout the United States installing cable. Rick returned home to Missouri where he worked for Everett Quarrey in Plattsburg, Missouri.

In 1989 Rick started R.A.M.S. General Contracting as owner and operator. The last several years he worked as the construction superintendent for HC Rogers Construction in Springfield, Missouri until his passing.

Rick cherished time spent with his daughter, Emily, and his former wife, Angie going on different trips consisting of camping, horse races, Mission Trips and spending quality time together. He loved to barbecue, watch sunrises and sunsets, enjoyed finding small unknown “hole in the wall" restaurants to try out, loved golfing with all of his friends and family and when he went skiing he believed himself to be a professional until his family and friends brought him back to reality! Rick loved spending time with family and friends, always loved family dinners and family reunions. Family was such an important part of his life.

Emily cherishes the memories her dad and her experienced together traveling to the Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, Florida and numerous other places. He always encouraged her to take a friend to join in the fun. His favorite saying on vacation or any other time that didn’t involve vacation was “we’re on island time”. Emily will remember her dad as the most loving and giving person who gave the best advice, someone she could always run to for anything, the best hugs and forehead kisses. Rick was very proud of Emily and all her endeavors. He always lit up when he talked about her and always told her she was the “apple of his eye”. All of his family will hold his side hugs and goofy personality close to their hearts.

Rick spent time in Springfield, Mo where he worked for 9 years. He was very passionate about his work. He always told people that you have to enjoy what you do because you will be doing it for the next 40 years, and he did enjoy his work and all those he worked with throughout the years. Rick loved spending time with all the “young guys” in Springfield and always acted as he was 30 years younger than he actually was!

A special place in his heart belonged to Samantha and her family, a daughter-like figure with whom he joyfully reconnected with while in Springfield. Their renewed bond brought him comfort. They went on weekly lunch outings and got to spend some much needed quality time reminiscing on the earlier days and present days together. He got to experience what being a Grandpa was like while down in Springfield. He also got to experience Grandparents day, ball games, church activities, blueberry picking and more with them.

Rick was very active and involved in the community where he was a member and past president of the Cameron Rotary Club, a Paul Harris Fellow, member of the Cameron Optimas Club, Cameron YMCA, Community Betterment Program, Cameron Chamber of Commerce, Plattsburg Lodge #113 AF & AM, and owner of Lloyd Racing Stables LLC.
