Cameron - Vera Louise Newell, 95, passed away April 13, 2026.
She was born on July 17, 1930 southeast of Cameron, Missouri to Harley R. and Anna (Waller) Montgomery.
Vera Lou was a 1947 graduate of Cameron High School and a 1948 graduate of Chillicothe Business College.
On May 28, 1953 she married Harry V. Newell.
Vera Lou was a lifetime member of the Cameron United Methodist Church, joining at the age of twelve. She was a member of the Seekers Bible Study Group and served on the Cameron Cemetery Board for several years. Vera Lou was a former member of the Federated Club, a 50 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 33, and Laureate Gamma Beta Sorority.
Vera Lou worked as a secretary at Long-Bell Lumber Company in Kansas City, Missouri for 5 years and Cameron State Bank for 18 years before retiring.
She enjoyed sewing, doing handiwork, reading and time spent with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Anna; husband, Harry V.; and sister, Eleanor Dice.
Survivors include her sons, Doug (Debbie) Newell, Cameron, Missouri and Dennis (Brenda) Newell, Bastrop, Texas; 5 grandchildren, Carrie (Chad) Pugh, Lees Summit, Missouri, Jenni Newell (Lance Balderston), St. Joseph, Missouri, Andrew (Courtney) Newell, Liberty, Missouri, Darci (Ryan) Hoff, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Nick Newell, Houston, Texas; great-grandchildren; Zoe and Max Pugh, Jackson and Hunter Newell, Della and Quaid Hoff; nephew, James Dice; niece, Nina Gibbs.
Services: 3:00 pm, Friday, April 17, at Poland-Thompson Chapel. Visitation one hour prior to the service at 2:00 pm. Burial in Osborn Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Cameron United Methodist Church and/or the Cameron Library.
