1921 - 2025

Rosella “Rose” Rooney, 103, of Cameron, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025.

She was born November 4, 1921, the beloved daughter of two immigrants—her mother from Ukraine and her father from Czechoslovakia. After the loss of her mother, Rose moved from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Lee’s Summit, Missouri. There, she began a career with Kuhar Metalizing, a business owned by her sister Ann and brother-in-law, before later joining Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company.

Rose met the love of her life during a night out with friends at a Catholic singles dance in Kansas City. In 1965, she married Francis Rooney. Together, they made their home in a trailer on the Vincent Rooney property north on Highway 69 and built a life centered on faith, hard work, and self-reliance. Rose and Francis raised livestock, grew their own food, and remained devoted members of St. Munchin Catholic Parish in Cameron throughout their marriage.

Rose will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, positive outlook, and gratitude for life’s simple joys. She embodied strength, resilience, and optimism finding fulfillment in her faith, her family, and the land she nurtured. Her legacy will live on in the lives of her nieces, nephews, and all who were blessed to know her.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
