Marjorie Kathryn (Durbin) Humphrey 1927-2026

Marjorie Kathryn (Durbin) Humphrey joined the great cloud of witnesses in heaven on July 5, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.

Marjorie was born on November 19, 1927.  She lived with her family in several small towns before settling in King City.  She was baptized at the First Baptist Church of King City as a child, and maintained steady service in the Christian faith throughout the remainder of her life.  The fifth of six children, Marjorie learned early the importance of working without complaint and sacrifice for the sake of service.  Marjorie cared for members of the family and community even as a child, and her family cared for one another with dedication.

Marjorie married Marvin Humphrey of Union Star on October 5, 1947.  Their life together was one of adventure, sacrifice, and most importantly, love.  She had excellent taste in swing music, dancing to many touring big bands and music acts at the Frog Hop in St. Joseph, MO.  Marvin and Marjorie traveled the United States in their camper, and their favorite vacation destinations were Hawaii and Arizona.  They instilled in their daughters the importance of hard work and dedication, and these lessons have lasted through each generation.

The world around Marjorie changed a lot in her many years on earth, but what didn’t change was her consistent heart for serving others.  Marjorie’s love was expressed not only through magnificent food, but also by making each person she encountered feel special and loved.  She had great faith in Jesus and hoped that her every word and deed would spread the love of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Humphrey;  parents, Edwin and Katie Durbin; sisters, Frances, Eva Jean, and Dixie; brothers, Carl and Wallace; and great-granddaughter, Ayla.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Gary) Lane and Cheryl (David) Schneider; grandchildren, Katie Schneider, Mark (Jaryn) Schneider, and Amelia Lane; great-grandchildren Brock (Ciara) Witmer, Brody & Blake Schneider, and Nora, Mack, and Tyus Schneider, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Services: 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 9, 2026 at First Baptist Church, Cameron, MO. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 1:00 PM.

Memorials may be given in memory of Marjorie to the charity of your choice.
