"Lisa Griffith (nee Ball) passed away from natural causes at her Salem, Oregon home on October 26, 2023. She was the daughter of the late William Ball and Joann (Bryant) Gillespie. Lisa attended Cameron High School from 1973-1977.

Lisa was a mother, educator, homemaker, artist, volunteer, and advocate for animal rights and environmental causes. She adopted Oregon as her home state in 1989 and gave her time and resources to a variety of causes there, including tutoring ESL elementary students in the Salem school district, serving as chair of the Salem Argonauts Youth Symphony, registering historic trees, organizing resources for the homeless, and much more. After homeschooling her children, she returned to school herself, finishing her GED at Chemeketa Community College, then receiving a first generation merit scholarship to Willamette University, of which she was a proud alum and supporter. She went on to receive an MA in Literature from the University of Oregon.

Lisa will be remembered by all who knew her as a kind, funny, energetic, and mercurial individual. She is survived by three daughters, Molly Griffith of Portland Oregon, Amy Griffith-Strandberg of Newberg Oregon, and Tarah Griffith of Coeur D'Alene Idaho. If you would like to commemorate Lisa's life with a gift, you can make a donation to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in her name."
