Cameron, Missouri- Lester Eugene Skouby, 86, passed away July 6, 2026 with his family by his side. He was born on March 25, 1940 in Cameron, Missouri.
Lester was an United States Army Veteran who proudly served his country, enlisting in 1957 and honorably discharged in 1965.
He married Shirley on September 30th, 1961 beginning a lifelong journey together. Over 64 years of marriage, they built a strong, loving home and raised a large, beautiful family in Cameron, Missouri.
He was initiated on November 11th 1982 to the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks of the United States of America, Cameron Elks Lodge #2615 where he served as an officer for many years and has been an active member for 45 years.
Lester was a member of the Heavy Construction Laborers Local Union 663
The family shares that Lester’s favorite times were spent at the family farms deer hunting, fishing, and volunteering at the Elks Lodge alongside his friends. He loved coaching his kids baseball and softball teams when they were young and later found great joy in watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in school activities and playing sports.
Lester treasured family vacations to Colorado and the many memories made in Branson. Road trips were always filled with country music whether it was Conway Twitty, Johnny Cash, or Waylon Jennings, each song carrying them a little closer to their destination.
Above all, Lester will be most remembered and deeply missed for his unwavering dedication and love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Of all the roles he held in life, he was best at being our #1 Papa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd (Bud) and Lee Kromeich; son, Robert Skouby; mother in law, Marjorie James; brother in law, John Baker; grandson, Josh Skouby; grandson in law, Johnny Stewart; and nephew Cody Michael Wilson.
Survivors include: wife, Shirley, of the home; children, David Skouby, Lisa Willey; daughter in law, Brandy Skouby; grandchildren, Amanda (LJ) Hedgpeth, Brooke Stewart, Trevor Johnson, Kelsey (Brittany) Skouby, Kenda Skouby, Colt (Samantha) Skouby, Erica Willey, Dakota (Josh) Howard, Miracle (Clayton) German and Kaleb (Nicole) Grady; great-grandchildren, Cam, Bailey (Chaz), Hollie, Bryce, Mady, Ryatt, Bryxton, Ledger, Alivia, Gabriela, Maddox, Makiya, Miah, McKynzie, Landen, Payton, Meekah, Daxxtyn, Sophia, Gracelyn; sister in law, Cora Blackwell and family.
Services: 11:00 am, Friday, July 10, 2026 at Poland-Thompson Chapel with visitation at 10:00 am. A Ritual of Remembrance conducted by Cameron Elks BPOE #2615 will be held at the beginning of the service.
Burial in Packard Cemetery.
