Janice M. Lewis 1936 - 2026

Janice Maurine Lewis, aged 89, of Cameron, MO, passed away April 14, 2026, at Sunset Nursing in Maysville, MO. She was born August 27, 1936, on the family farm near Darlington, MO, to Carl Cobb Groom and Leona Fern (Oyler) Groom, the oldest of two children.

Jan was a 1954 graduate of Stanberry High School, Stanberry, MO, and Gard Business School, St. Joseph, MO. On September 4, 1955, Bobby Joe Lewis and Jan were married in Darlington, MO, with her grandfather, Pastor Frank Seth Groom officiating.

Jan was always an active member of her community. She enjoyed her time spent in the Officer’s Wives Club, P.E.O., Marionville Town and Country (University of Missouri) Extension Club, Aurora Lion’s Club, Southern Baptist Women’s Missionary Union, and the Aurora Hospital Auxiliary, serving as the hospital’s gift shop manager. Jan was a member of First Baptist Church, Cameron, MO, at the time of her passing. One of her greatest desires was to see her family come to know the Lord.

Jan is survived by her daughter, Tracey (Gary) Ebersold and daughter-in-law, RaVae Lewis.  She also leaves five grandchildren: Eric, Tara, Ryan, Cassie and Taylor, and six great-grandchildren. Her brother-in-law, John (Sharon) Lewis, survives. She leaves many nieces, nephews, their families and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

She was pre-deceased by her parents; her husband; her son, Greg; and her brother, Jack Tillman Groom.

Services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, April 20, 2026, at Cameron First Baptist Church, Cameron, MO. Visitation 10:00-11:00, prior to the service. Burial, Alta Vista Cemetery, Weatherby, MO.

Funeral services are under the direction of Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron, MO.
