Edith “Ereline” (Parks) McCord, age 86, of Cameron, Missouri, passed away peacefully Friday, June 26, 2026, at Mosaic Hospital in St. Joseph, Missouri.
Ereline was born in Cameron, Missouri, to Lloyd and Naomi Parks, on November 24, 1939. Ereline was the oldest of three (3) siblings, joined by a younger sister, Shirley (Bill), and brother, Jack (MaryAnn). Her parents and both siblings preceded her in death.
Graduating from Cameron High School in the Class of 1957, she excelled in vocal music and academics. On September 22, 1957, she married Larry McCord. The couple was blessed with four (4) children: Mary (Vern) Bradford, Larry, Jr. (Vi) McCord, David, and Eric.
While raising her children, Ereline earned a degree from Northwest Missouri State University in Elementary Education, and later earned a Library Science degree from the University of Central Missouri. After receiving her degrees, Ereline taught early education in the Osborn School District, and after a number of years, retired as the Elementary Librarian in the Lathrop School District.
After retiring from teaching, Ereline shared her love of flowers and talent for floral design through her work at The Plant Place. With her strong faith and interest in helping others, throughout the remainder of her life, Ereline would provide weekly arrangements for her church and engaged in church activities, including teaching youth during Vacation Bible School. For several years, Ereline and her husband owned and operated an antique store in Hamilton, Missouri. Her great joy in this endeavor was meeting and visiting with people. Her passion in life was selflessly caring for others. She lived a life of faithfulness, generosity, trust, and hope that led her to her heavenly home.
She will be missed by her husband, of the home, her children, her twelve (12) grandchildren, fourteen (14) great-grandchildren, and one (1) great-great-grandchild, two (2) sisters-in-law, one (1) brother-in-law, numerous nieces, and nephews, and many, many friends.
Remembrances and a Celebration of Life will be held at The Community of Christ in Cameron Missouri, on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. (service at 11:00 a.m.). Ereline will be laid in Cameron Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be given to the Community of Christ and/or Backpack Buddies.
