When Mike O’Donnell joined the Cameron Fire Department on April 7, 1986, he was one more volunteer willing to answer the call.

Forty years later, he has become one of the defining figures in the department’s modern history — a firefighter, chief, mentor, problem-solver and steady hand for a city that has relied on him through fires, wrecks, emergencies, hard days and quiet acts of service most people never see.
