Clinton County officials say a technical failure prevented some outdoor warning sirens from activating during severe weather early April 27, raising questions about how the system performs during real-world emergencies.
According to Clinton County Emergency Management Director Blair Shock, a tornado warning was issued shortly after 4 a.m. for portions of the county, including areas south of Cameron. While the county’s siren activation system functioned as intended, a radio used to communicate with the sirens failed due to a power supply issue, preventing activation in affected areas.
