JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Missouri will receive more than $91 million from a $7.4 billion national settlement with Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family, bringing new funding into a state still working to confront the long-term damage of the opioid crisis.
Attorney General Catherine Hanaway announced the settlement has become legally effective, ending years of litigation over Purdue’s marketing of opioids and its role in the national addiction crisis. Missouri sued Purdue in 2017, one year after attorneys general launched a multistate investigation.
