JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is proposing new permit requirements for users of its more than 35 unstaffed firearms shooting ranges across the state following increased damage, littering and misuse at the facilities.

Under the proposal, users of MDC-owned unstaffed shooting ranges would be required to possess a valid small game hunting permit unless otherwise exempt because of age or disability. The change would not apply to partner-operated ranges or MDC’s five staffed shooting ranges.
