For plenty of Northwest Missouri residents, morel mushroom hunting is less of a hobby and more of a spring tradition.

It is the sort of thing people wait on all winter: a warm stretch of weather, the greening of the timber, and the hope that a careful walk through the woods might turn up one of spring’s most prized treasures.
