Council Vacancy to Be Filled by Appointment Until April 2026 Election

A resignation from the Cameron City Council has set in motion a process that will see a new member appointed by the Mayor — with Council approval — to serve until the next municipal election in April 2026.

City officials confirmed that under both Missouri state law and Cameron’s own Charter, the departure of Councilwoman Gina Reed Hibler creates a vacancy that is to be filled by mayoral appointment. The appointee, once approved by a majority of the remaining Council members, will hold the seat until voters make their choice at the regular election next spring.
