The Cameron City Council approved a police department pay and recruiting adjustment Monday night after Police Chief Dan Miller warned the department has fallen below critical staffing levels, forcing command staff into dispatch shifts and temporarily closing the department’s detective division.
The council voted 5-0 to approve Resolution 2026-26, which amends the police department salary matrix and authorizes increased hiring incentives for police officers and dispatchers.
