BREAKING: Farmers State Bank parent company to be acquired in $28.3M deal

Farmers State Bank’s parent company will be acquired by Jefferson City-based Hawthorn Bancshares in a $28.3 million cash-and-stock deal announced Wednesday.

Hawthorn Bancshares, the holding company for Hawthorn Bank, announced it has signed an agreement to acquire FSC Bancshares, the holding company for Farmers State Bank. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, pending FSC shareholder approval and required regulatory approvals.
