Betty J. Brady 1925-2017

 

Cameron - Betty Jean Brady, 92, passed away on October 4, 2017.

Betty was born on June 15, 1925 in Kansas City, to Joseph Harold and Lillian (Quisenberry) Grove.

She was a 1943 graduate of Cameron High School. She enjoyed playing the bass drum in the Cameron Marching Band and the Cameron football games.

On April 6, 1947, Betty married Orville Jr. Brady in Cameron.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orville Jr.; grandchildren, Shawn Arthur and Miranda Lynn Brady Smith; two sisters, Marjorie Perry and Martha Demarest.

Betty worked as a switchboard operator for GE Telephone Company, for Cameron Savings and Loan for 10 years and then a bookkeeper for Floyd Shelman Realty, before retiring.

Betty was an original member of M&K Club in 1952, Cameron Boots and Saddle Club in 1952, Sweet Adaline’s and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Chapter Xi Kappa Upsilon.

She loved sewing, antiques, shopping, having parties, birthdays and Christmas.

Survivors include two daughters, Patti (Charles) Bowman, Cameron and Linda (Robert) Arthur, Belton; granddaughter, Jessica Bowman, Cameron; three grandsons, C.J. (Amber) Bowman, Griffin, Ga., Travis (Kristina) Arthur, Belton, and Ryan Arthur, Kansas City; six great-grandsons, Azariah, Hananiah, Elijah, Ezekiel, Seraiah Bowman, and Hudson Arthur.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, October 9, 2017 at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron. Visitation will be held at 6-8 p.m., Sunday evening at the funeral home. Burial: Cameron Memory Gardens, Cameron. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
