Elks Lodge Hosts 4 Rusty Nuts Dine and Shine
A steady damp drizzle didn’t keep away the automotive enthusiasts this weekend. Over 120 people showed up for the 6th Annual Dine and Shine event put together by a small group that call themselves the 4 Rusty Nuts. They provided all the meat for the cookout and spent the entire day prior to the event on their Gridley Grills preparing the main dishes (grilled beef, pulled pork, and BBQ chicken). Everyone who attended brought a potluck style side dish to share. “There are no trophies. Just people getting together to enjoy great cars, good music, and fellowship,” said organizer Roy Corbett.
The 4 Rusty Nuts Dine and Shine event benefits the Elk Lodge via a raffle and a donation. “I just like to come out to these and support what they are doing,” said Parkville resident Dave DeWitt, “my dad was an Elks member where I grew up in Ohio and we always went around and supported what the other lodges were doing”. Many of the vehicles on display belonged to area residents. The folks that came to see them and participate in the festivities were from the Cameron area and Kansas City. The Elks Lodge is located at 9018 NE Highway 69.
